Effective June 13, 2026 · Last updated June 13, 2026

Vecindad, Inc. ("vecindad," "we," "us," or "our") provides a private, trust-based recommendation platform. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information about you when you use our mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the "Service").

By using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Who we are

Vecindad, Inc. is a Delaware corporation. Our mailing address is:

Vecindad, Inc. 4000 W Montrose Ave #2467, Chicago, IL 60641

In this policy:

We are an early-stage company. We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. We collect what we need to operate a trust-based recommendation service and nothing designed for third-party advertising or data resale.

2. What this policy covers

This Privacy Policy describes:

This Privacy Policy applies to:

If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy or to how we use your information, we will provide notice in the app and on our website before the changes take effect and, where required, request your consent.

3. How vecindad works

vecindad is built around your trust circle, which is the set of people you explicitly connect with in the app. By default, your asks and recommendations are visible only to members of your trust circle (your direct connections), not to the general public.

In some future cohorts, we may offer optional city-scoped broadcast:

This design shapes what we collect and what we do not collect: we collect only what is reasonably necessary to provide trust-circle recommendations and attribution, not to create third-party advertising profiles.

4. Information we collect

4.1 Information you provide to us

We collect information you choose to provide, including:

4.2 Information we collect automatically

When you use the Service we automatically collect:

4.3 Information we do not collect

We intentionally do not:

5. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

We do not use your personal information to sell to data brokers, run third-party targeted advertising, or train unrelated third-party models.

6. Validation and attribution

When you mark a recommendation as "I went" or "I liked it," that signal is visible to the person who made the recommendation and helps your trust circle understand which recommendations led to real visits.

In future cohorts, participating businesses may receive attribution data that indicates vecindad-related visits, for example when both you and the business confirm a visit ("two-sided validation").

By default:

Attribution data is separate from your asks, recommendations, and trust connections, which remain scoped to relevant trust circles unless you choose broader visibility.

7. How we share information (and what we do not sell)

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers for their own marketing or "cross-context behavioral advertising."

We share information only in these situations:

8. California residents

If you are a California resident, the CCPA/CPRA gives you specific rights over your personal information and requires certain disclosures.

8.1 Our role

vecindad generally acts as a business toward members and as a service provider toward participating businesses that receive attribution data.

8.2 Your California rights

9. Texas residents

If you are a Texas resident, the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act (TDPSA) provides rights to access, correct, delete, and obtain a copy of your personal data, and to opt out of certain processing.

vecindad does not:

Any disclosure of attribution information to participating businesses is made to facilitate the product or service you requested (trust-based recommendations and optional attribution) and is governed by contracts that limit use of the data.

You can exercise your Texas privacy rights as described in Section 10.

10. Your rights and choices

No system is perfectly secure. If we learn of a security incident affecting your personal information, we will investigate and notify you and regulators as required by law.

12. How long we keep your information

We retain information only as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

In general:

We may retain de-identified or aggregated data (which cannot reasonably be used to identify you) for longer periods.

13. Children's privacy

The Service is intended for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to use vecindad.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn we have collected information from a minor, we will delete it. If you believe a minor has provided information to us, please contact support@askvecindad.com.
